ALPHA TECHNOLOGIES INTRODUCES NEW ENCLOSURE DESIGNS

Bellingham, Wash., August 20, 1998 - Power supply manufacturer Alpha Technologies has introduced two new enclosure options for cable television power systems: the UPE-3 and the CE-9. The result of customer suggestion and rigorous testing, Alpha’s new enclosures have been improved to make installation, operation and maintenance safer and more convenient.

Alpha’s Cable TV enclosures are designed to accommodate unique cable powering applications in demanding outside plant environments. The all-aluminum construction and durable powder coat finish provide superior corrosion resistance and long service life.

The UPE-3 is a ground-mounted enclosure configured for one power module and three float-service, gelled electrolyte batteries in separate compartments, with a lockable front door. The power module is located above the batteries for maximum battery convection cooling. This vandal resistant enclosure is ideal for use in all climates. Features include battery slide tray, high magnetic circuit breaker, duplex AC receptacle and a service power inserter with Cable TV coaxial VSF fitting. An LRI lamp duplicates the function of the power module’s standby indicator for simple status monitoring. Alternate configurations are available.

Alpha’s CE-9 enclosure offers complete flexibility and modular expandability for Cable TV powering applications. The enclosure may be ground or pole mounted, and a 19” rack system simplifies installation and allows future reconfigurations. The CE Series is designed to accommodate current system power requirements while allowing the cost-effective addition of power capacity, as well as enhanced reliability options when new services are integrated. The CE-9 is excellent for centralized powering architectures, with many new operating design options available.
