ALPHA TECHNOLOGIES INTRODUCES NEW BATTERY LINE

Bellingham, Wash., October 12, 1998 - Alpha Technologies has announced the introduction of a complete line of batteries designed specifically for communication powering applications.

Alpha’s new battery offering includes six different models incorporating four separate battery technologies, ensuring optimal performance for all cable TV and broadband applications. These new batteries provide improved performance, longer runtimes, extended service life and lower cost of ownership.

AlphaCell™ batteries are maintenance-free and available with runtimes up to 180 minutes. New technologies include an exclusive “Premium Gel” battery, which combines the proven benefits of gelled electrolyte technology with a unique positive grid alloy that increases battery float life and reduces the adverse impact of grid oxidation. The AlphaCell™ Premium Gel is designed for extended life and comes with a full 3-year warranty.

Alpha’s traditional “Gel” battery utilizes a lead-calcium positive grid alloy, and is well suited for broadband applications where batteries are exposed to wide temperature ranges. These gelled batteries effectively dissipate heat from inside the battery, increasing battery float life.

The AlphaCell™ “AGM” (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery is best suited for temperature controlled applications. AGM technology is designed for those areas where batteries will not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures or wide temperature ranges.
