ALPHA EXPANDS GENERATOR OFFERING

Bellingham, Wash., July 13, 2000 - Power system manufacturer Alpha Technologies has expanded its line of outside plant generator systems. With more than 10,000 generator systems already deployed in the broadband industry, Alpha has now developed generator systems specifically designed for telecom and wireless powering applications.

The expansion of the AlphaGen line allows Alpha to provide greatly extended backup power to remote terminal sites as well as cellular, microcell and picocell stations.

AlphaGen generator systems are fueled by either natural gas or propane and use a universal regulator, making them highly compatible with existing network equipment. They provide reliable, unattended operation and incorporate numerous safeguards to protect the generator system, maintenance personnel and the general public. Communication functions allow both remote monitoring and startup capability.

The AlphaGen line incorporates several advanced technological features. These include significantly reduced audible noise levels, higher power density, both remote startup and monitoring, and improved fuel compatibility. Alpha’s generator systems have also been improved to allow installation further from the power supply location.

Additionally, these new telecom specific models incorporate DC output filtering for improved field performance in telephony applications.

Each generator system can be used as a stand-alone backup power source or in conjunction with additional Alpha power equipment to provide a complete power solution.
