ALPHA OFFERS NEW POLE-MOUNT ENCLOSURE

Bellingham, Wash., August 9, 2000 - Power supply manufacturer Alpha Technologies announces a new addition to its PWE pole-mount cable TV enclosures. The PWE-8 enclosure is specifically engineered for powering configurations that demand extended standby time in pole or wall mount configurations.

This new PWE-8 enclosure can accommodate up to eight AlphaCell batteries and a 60V or 90V power supply. When 180GXL AlphaCell batteries are used with a power supply, it provides up to 8 hours of backup time at a 10 Amp load. This is the longest backup time available in the industry for a standard, single power supply system.

Advanced features for these units include; slide-out battery trays, integral SPI mounting, all-aluminum welded construction, lockable doors, easy opening lid, and local/remote indicator light. The batteries have been turned lengthways in the enclosure to allow for easier access to the terminals for maintenance purposes.

As with all Alpha outdoor enclosures, each PWE-8 is made from durable aluminum, has a powder coat finish to provide protection from the elements, and has been thermally engineered for optimal field performance. Options include battery heater mats and plastic covers for locks to keep out dust and eliminate corrosion.

Alpha’s new PWE-8 enclosure has been redesigned, reducing its size, for a more compact package that is five inches narrower than previous models. The slimmer design reduces the visual impact of the units on the pole and they are lighter and easier to install. A significant advantage of the reduced size of the PWE-8 it is easier to have it approved through utilities. Teleconnect’s coveted Best of Show Award at this year’s INNMUG show in New Orleans.
