ALPHA INTRODUCES NEW POWERNODE ENCLOSURES

Bellingham, Wash., August 15, 2000 - Power system manufacturer Alpha Technologies introduced two new Powernode Enclosures for broadband network architectures.

The PN-3 and the PN-4 enclosures have been designed for powering configurations that demand a combination of extended standby time, centralized powering, and a migration path that allows incremental investment and overall cost savings.

The new enclosures have been specifically engineered to allow easier access to key equipment during installation and maintenance. Advanced features for these units include; slide-out battery trays, thermostat controlled cooling fans in all modes of operation, integral SPI mounting, pre-wired electrical service and generator interface. As is the case with all Alpha outdoor enclosures, the PN-3 and PN-4 are made from durable aluminum, have a powder coat finish to provide protection from the elements, and have been thermally engineered for optimal field performance.

The PN-3 and PN-4 both maintain the same footprint and styling of the Alpha CE line of enclosures. Some benefits of the two new enclosures over previous models include; lighter weight, easier access to receptacle panels and improved coax management area.

The PN-3 and PN-4 incorporate three and four equipment trays respectively. The enclosures can be populated with either one or two power modules and up to eight batteries, depending on the configuration. Each enclosure can be used in conjunction with an AlphaGen generator system for extended runtime applications.

Both enclosures meet stringent safety agency standards and have full system level approval for electrical, rain and thermal. The battery security options provide either sturdy ”star-lock” locking bolts or a new locking bar assembly for high-security applications.
