Bellingham, Wash., July 19, 2006 - Alpha Technologies Inc. announces the commissioning of the first phase of a 267kW solar power plant for the City of Loma Linda, CA. When fully operational, the power plant, based on photovoltaic technology, will provide over 430MWh of electricity annually - enough to power 70 homes.

The solar panels are mounted on the roofs of four City buildings and on shade structures covering parking spaces in the Civic center complex. "The panels do 'double duty' in this configuration," commented Paul Barlock, President, Alpha Technologies, "They not only generate electricity, they also keep the sun off buildings and cars making them easier and less expensive to cool."

Alpha chose Sharp solar modules for this project. Sharp is the US market leader in photovoltaics and offers a variety of solar panels for residential and commercial installations, including building integrated photovoltaic roof modules. The construction phase of the project is being led by Alpha Technologies Services, a national provider of maintenance, construction and turnkey design/build services.

In addition to the solar portion of this project, Alpha is providing a broad array of backup powering products for Loma Linda's FTTH network. Designing DC plants and inverter solutions for both Headend and point of presence (POP) sites. Later this year Alpha's indoor fiber power solutions will be utilized throughout the network.
