Alpha Offers Next Generation Ethernet and DOCSIS Status Monitoring
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bellingham, Wash., May 30, 2006 - Power system provider Alpha Technologies, announces the deployment of its next generation Ethernet and DOCSIS based status-monitoring transponders for the broadband industry. The new AlphaNet ESM and DSM embedded transponders are designed to network enable Alpha’s XM2, XM2VP and GMX power supplies with no additional power supply interface cards.

“Alpha’s new AlphaNet ESM and DSM make network monitoring easy and efficient. These new products are the next step in providing network operators the critical level of reliability that is crucial to their system operations, the embedded nature of the products make them inherently more reliable than older, stand alone type transponders” commented Rob Anderson, Alpha Technologies Director of Emerging Markets.

The AlphaNet ESM (Ethernet Status Monitor) and DSM (DOCSIS Status Monitor) broadband power communication card enables Alpha’s XM2 UPS to connect directly to a network with standard Ethernet, a user supplied cable modem or an embedded cable modem. Advanced features and networking services enable quick reporting and access to critical powering information to keep broadband networks running.

The new AlphaNet transponders incorporate several key benefits including; craft port providing local technician access, standard ANSI /SCTE power supply and generator MIBs, directly monitors up to four strings of 36 or 48V batteries, and embedded DOCSIS or EuroDOCSIS cable modem or direct Ethernet interface to user supplied modem.

The AlphaNet family of products supports all standard networking protocols and standards required for effective power network management. Through a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) interface, standard MIBs are used for quick, efficient network status and diagnostics. A WEB interface enables any authorized personnel direct access to powerful, advanced diagnostics using a common web browser. No proprietary software required. A Single ESM/DSM installed in an XM2 supports communications and system control for multiple XM2 power supplies and an AlphaGen backup generator system.
