Bellingham, Wash. August 30, 2007 - World-leading power systems provider Alpha Technologies, Inc, recently announced the launch of the FlexPoint 1230, a 12-Volt, 30Watt FiberUPS, their latest FTTH powering solution.

“We designed the FlexPoint 1230 for indoor or sheltered-outdoor installation at the end-consumer home,” said Scott Hopper, Fiber Power Product Manager at Alpha Technologies. “While it is a versatile standby powering solution supporting rapid growth in fiber optic consumer demand, it includes many features not available with similar products on the market.”

The FlexPoint 1230 is compatible with both PON and HFC-PON networks, due to its optional F-connector. It also features an emergency battery reserve function that provides greater lifeline service availability.

“In the event of a power disruption, the FP1230 keeps home communications alive,” said Hopper. “But it also preserves 25% of the battery power for emergency reserve. So in an extended outage situation, you can access power for emergency telephone calls or periodic browsing.”

Additional features of the FlexPoint 1230 include visual status indicators, audible alarms, silence alarm button and an auxiliary 12Vdc power input port allowing additional battery capacity to be added for longer standby runtimes.

This and other innovative Alpha Technologies powering solutions will be on display in booth 1213 at the 2007 FTTH Expo in Orlando, September 30 – October 4.
