Bellingham, Wash., August 1, 2006 - Northwest entrepreneur, Chairman of Alpha Technologies Inc. and the founder of the Alpha Group Mr. Fred Kaiser was pleased to have The Fred Kaiser Building recognized in a recent survey entitled "The Greater Vancouver GreenGuide." The guide featured 111 of the most innovative buildings and neighborhoods, located throughout the Lower Mainland in British Clumbia, that embody the concept of urban sustainability.

This impressive five-story structure is situated on the campus of the University of British Columbia (UBC), and houses the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Dedicated last September, The Fred Kaiser Building was built with an eye to sustainability and environmental awareness. One of the many energy conscious features are huge windows made of low-E, double-glazed glass silk-screened with a "ceramic frit" - a thin layer of glass which improves energy efficiency. Designed by Omicron Architecture Engineering Construction Limited, The Fred Kaiser Building uses 35 percent less electricity than the national building code model for energy efficient commercial structures.
