ALPHA INTRODUCES NEW DOUBLE CONVERSION POWER SYSTEMS

Bellingham, Wash., March 16, 2001 - Power system provider Alpha Technologies introduces a new family of double conversion UPS systems designed to provide total power protection for communication networks.

The Pinnacle Series provides clean, reliable power to protect networking equipment, telecommunication systems, medical equipment and other mission-critical applications. Using Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology, these new power systems provide complete power conditioning, continually offering pure, sinewave power to critical equipment with zero transfer time.

The double-conversion circuitry creates reliable and continuous power to the load and offers complete protection against a variety of power problems. These abnormalities include blackouts, brownouts, electrical noise, spikes, sags, surges, voltage transients and frequency variations.

The Pinnacle Series UPS has several features that make it one of the most technologically advanced UPS systems available. The intelligent output voltage adjustment regulates the output voltage, allowing it to be fine-tuned according to actual power needs.

A self-diagnostic function starts automatically as soon as the UPS is powered up. This function monitors over voltage, over current, over temperature and over power protection constantly, and if abnormal conditions are detected an “Error Code” message is displayed. An automatic maintenance bypass is used in special circumstances such as overload to allow the UPS to automatically switch to the main power line using the built-in bypass circuitry.

The Pinnacle Series also features a user-friendly design, including a graphical interface LCD display, to clearly indicate operation status. Additional benefits include DC auto cold start, hot swappable batteries and both tower and rack-mount versions for installation flexibility.

Another major advantage of the Pinnacle Series is RS-232 two-way communication, which sends signals to both the network and computer. This enables it to be monitored, shut down, or programmed with an on/off date remotely and from using its own software. There is also an optional internal slot for SNMP agent.
