Bellingham, Wash., April 1, 2009 – World leading power systems provider and a member of The Alpha Group, Alpha Technologies Inc. recently introduced the Node Power Supply (NPS) enclosure, designed for outside plant broadband cable applications requiring lower power, a smaller footprint and status monitoring capabilities.

“The Node Power Supply Enclosure is more than 20 percent smaller than a standard three-battery enclosure,” said John Hewitt, Vice President of Cable Sales at Alpha. “The combination of its smaller size and flexible mounting options make the NPS ideal for multi-dwelling units, business parks or node segmentations where space is at a premium.”

Designed with efficiency in mind, the NPS enclosure is engineered to support Alpha’s 6 Amp XM2-906HP power supply and three 85GXL AlphaCell^TM batteries. This NPS solution is up to 10% more efficient than traditional equipment, thereby using less energy and reducing the overall carbon footprint of the outside plant.

“With the growth of deep fiber networks, there is an increasing need for lower amperage standby power,” said Hewitt. “With the NPS enclosure’s pole, wall, floor or rack mounting versatility, it is the perfect low-profile solution for these emerging technologies.”

The NPS enclosure includes all of the standard features that have made Alpha the leader in outside plant systems including powder coated aluminum removable lid and door. The NPS enclosure is compatible with optional equipment such as the AlphaGuard^TM battery charge management systems, front terminal batteries and a service power inserter with RF port (SPI-RF).
