Alpha Energy Features Pre-Configured Solar and Wind Hybrid Power Supplies and Configurator
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bellingham, Wash., October 26, 2009 - A national leader in turnkey photovoltaic and renewable systems and member of The Alpha Group, Alpha Energy will launch its Solar/Wind Hybrid Power Supply (HPS) Configurator and pre-configured kits at the 2009 Solar Power International Expo in Anaheim this week. A user-friendly utility, the Solar/Wind HPS Configurator helps customers put together an HPS system that will generate energy for grid-tied or off-grid residential and commercial installations.
“This great new utility gives customers an easy way to see how they can put solar and wind power to work for them,” said Drew Zogby, President and COO of Alpha Technologies. “The need for renewable energy resources is at an all time high. And by incorporating multiple types of energy resources, like solar and wind power, customers can protect themselves from unreliable power supplies and rising energy costs.”
Alpha Energy’s Hybrid Power Supply Configurator takes customers through a multiple-step process to determine their renewable energy powering requirements. It helps users determine their solar insolation value, their location’s wind resource, their wattage and voltage requirements, as well as their system mounting and equipment needs. It offers an informative summary of the recommended system using multiple power generation sources to provide redundancy and ensure power consistency.
“Solar power is a highly reliable power source,” said Zogby, “but by including an additional resource, like wind, a battery bank or generator, you protect yourself after the sun goes down. Today’s wind turbines can operate 24/7 depending on wind conditions. And generators or a battery bank can supplement additional power needs in nighttime hours, while getting recharged during peak sun hours.”
Alpha Energy’s Hybrid Power Supply (HPS) systems are engineered to compensate for larger power load requirements or obstructed weather conditions like cloud coverage or low sun exposure. Systems are available from 1 to 6kW for solar installations and up to 1.1kW for wind installations, and are pre-engineered to ensure highly reliable operation in the harshest of environments. Potential system components include:
- Solar Power – Photovoltaic solar power systems generate energy from the sun.
- Wind Power – Wind turbines generate energy in wind speeds as little as 8mph.
- Generators – A gas-powered generator provides a high level of power security for mission critical equipment.
- Deep-Cycle Batteries – Gel Batteries store excess energy generated from solar, wind or generators. Adding batteries ensures reliable power at all times of the day.
