Bellingham, Wash., June 6, 2003 - Leading power system manufacturer, Alpha Technologies, introduces its new Redundant Transfer Switch (RTS). Alpha’s RTS offers greater power protection for critical communication and networking equipment.

With its dual isolated inputs, Alpha’s RTS has a powerful microprocessor that automatically transfers input current from the main power source to a secondary power source in the event of a brownout or power failure. Additional protection with Break-Before-Make switching guarantees that the two power sources are never connected together.

The RTS’s front-access panel gives field technician’s complete access to the module’s components when providing routine maintenance. The hot swappable modules ensure simple and safe operation without shutting down the loads during routine maintenance or expansion. Operators never have to interrupt service because the module’s slide in or out of the cabinet even while the system is online.

Operators can monitor the status of equipment quickly and efficiently with an easy-to-use LED display. The RS-232 serial port provides an easy-to-use menu interface to remotely retrieve more detailed information.

Alpha’s Redundant Transfer Switch is designed with an array of options including manual and automatic transfers, selected preferred power source, selectable auto/manual re-transfer and programmable self-test. The RTS is available in 120 VAC and 230 VAC models that easily fit into a 19” or 23” rack-mount docking bay. Alpha’s RTS is NRTL/CSA approved and comes with a 2-year full warranty.
