Bellingham, Wash., October 19, 2004 - Power system provider Alpha Technologies, was recently awarded CableLabs Certification for its DOCSIS® Embedded Transponder.

The new Alpha embedded transponder has completed Wave31 testing from Cable Television Laboratories, Inc.’s and has been awarded CableLabs® Certified™ status for its DOCSIS status monitoring transponder.

“The CableLabs certification is a testament that our product is a viable technology solution for cable networks,” commented Paul Humphreys, Alpha Technologies VP of Marketing. Also stating, “Alpha has always been on the forefront of producing new technological advancements, and this is a prime example of our ingenuity within the cable marketplace.”

This product enables the cable operator access to vital system information over existing DOCSIS infrastructure. By implementing this type of technology, the operator can enjoy the reliability and robustness that is a hallmark of DOCSIS, now being widely applied to HFC element management activities throughout North America.

Alpha and Tollgrade entered a collaboration agreement in 2003, and are now broadening their offering of DOCSIS based management solution. This technology now provides one point of contact for all status monitoring related products and services. This agreement also designates Alpha as the exclusive channel for Tollgrade DOCSIS transponders for monitoring Alpha power products.
