Bellingham, Wash., May 20, 2004 - Alpha Technologies’ Embedded DOCSIS Transponder has been named as a finalist of Communications Technology’s annual Readers’ Choice Awards.

Every year, these awards are given to the most outstanding and innovative new products in the Broadband Cable industry.

Alpha’s Embedded DOCSIS Transponder provides cable operators with the ability to access vital system information over existing DOCSIS infrastructure, which is fast becoming a hallmark of DOCSIS - now being widely applied to HFC element management activities throughout North America.

Features of the Embedded Transponder include; compatibility with ANSI/SCTE HMS standards, one transponder for up to six power supplies (plus generator system), and rugged outside plant design.

Alpha’s Digital Embedded DOCSIS Transponder enables transponder data to be transmitted to a management system over the network’s DOCSIS cable modem channels through the existing CMTS. Bandwidth utilization is minimized through the use of SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) messaging.
