Alpha to Present at FTTH Conference 2004
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bellingham, Wash., September 14, 2004 - Power system provider Alpha Technologies, will give a technical presentation entitled ”Cost of FTTH Powering” at the FTTH Conference 2004 in Orlando, Florida.

“The FTTx market is evolving quickly and we are pleased to provide some insight, about the various powering components available for fiber,” commented Paul Humphreys, Alpha Technologies VP of Marketing.

This technical seminar, presented by Alpha’s Scott Hopper, FTTx product manager, will discuss the true cost of the powering architecture from the headend, actives in the last mile and the optical line terminal (OLT) at the premise. This presentation will explore powering solutions including enclosure systems, power supplies, and standby batteries that have gained acceptance in today’s growing FTTH market as well as explore related capital and reoccurring costs.

FTTH networks can be divided into four sections; the headend or central office (HE/CO), the passive optical fiber distribution network, actives in the last mile and the OTN at the customers premise. Other than the passive optical fiber network, each section of the network has unique powering requirements and associated costs. Powering solutions supporting FTTH networks and architectures need to be varied to address the unique needs of each application.

This technical session will be held on Tuesday October 5th at 3:30 PM at this year’s FTTH Conference. Alpha staff will also be available at Alpha booth #506 to discuss this and other power related issues.
