ALPHA INTRODUCES NEW 7.5 KILOWATT CURBSIDE GENERATOR SYSTEM

Bellingham, Wash., April 13, 2001 - Power system manufacturer Alpha Technologies expands AlphaGen line with an all new 7.5 kilowatt DC curbside generator system, designed specifically for powering cable television, telecommunications, and broadband networks.

“Alpha’s new 7.5 kilowatt generator has answered the industry’s call for increased network reliability,” commented officials at Alpha. Increased power density allows the new system to provide nearly 50 percent more power than the previous 5.0 kilowatt model, while maintaining the same low audible noise signature.

The increased power rating enables this new generator to provide extended backup power to larger power nodes. The 7.5 kilowatt AlphaGen is specifically designed to be co-located with an Alpha PN6 powernode enclosure. The PN6 is a durable all aluminum powder coat finished enclosure, accommodating three 22.5 Amp power supplies and two 48V battery strings. This powernode configuration can provide up to 6000 Watts of power and it is fully backed by the 7.5 kilowatt generator.

The AlphaGen line incorporates several technological advantages over other generator systems. These include; significantly reduced audible noise levels, higher power density, both remote startup and monitoring, and improved fuel compatibility. Alpha’s generator systems have also been improved to allow installation further from the power supply location.

AlphaGen systems are fueled by either natural gas or propane and use a universal regulator, making them highly compatible with existing network equipment. They provide reliable, unattended operation and incorporate numerous safeguards to protect the generator system, maintenance personnel and the general public. Communication functions allow both remote monitoring and startup capability.
