ALPHA TO PRESENT AT CABLE-TEC EXPO 2001

Bellingham, Wash., April 13, 2001 - Alpha Technologies will give a technical presentation entitled ”Status Monitoring of CATV Power Supplies and Power Systems: Evolution and Change in a World Moving to Packets” at the Cable-Tec Expo 2001 in Orlando, Florida.

This technical seminar, presented by Alpha’s Dr. Thomas H. Sloane, will discuss the increasing benefits of remote monitoring of power supplies. This issue has become critical as the performance and operation of power supplies has become instrumental in ensuring overall network reliability. Status monitoring is following the dramatic changes of the Internet with standardization providing more choices and improved performance.

Remote monitoring of power supplies allows operators to fully capitalize on investments in the HFC plant power system. As powering systems continue to evolve status monitoring becomes an essential contributor to reliable plant operation. Driven by increased expectations for performance, status monitoring systems are changing along with these evolving powering systems, particularly as system services expand from traditional broadcast video to full service networks, with a growing percentage of these networks being packet based.

This technical session will be held on the both the second and third day of this year’s Cable-Tec Expo and is open to all full show / session attendees. Alpha staff will also be available at Alpha booth #1258 to discuss this and other power related issues.
