Bellingham, Wash., September 2, 2003 - Power system provider Alpha Technologies, has announced the appointment of Paul Shmotolokha to Vice President of International Cable Sales and Business Development, reporting to Warren Johnson President and COO.

“Paul will be working closely with Alpha’s Latin American and Asian sales teams as well as the European offices, to strengthen Alpha’s regional customer base and ensure the inclusion of key product requirements into future development programs,” commented Warren Johnson.

Shmotolokha comes to Alpha having served as Vice President and General Manager for the Beijing, China operation of Encore International, a subsidiary of Liberty Media. Prior to this, Paul served as Vice President of Cable Television and Broadband Networks at Metromedia International Telecommunications, where he directed corporate operations for Metromedia’s cable television networks across nine countries in Europe.

He joined Metromedia after serving as Regional Director in Budapest, Hungary of Multichoice Central Europe, where he was responsible for operating companies in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia and helped launch the first multichannel direct-to-home satellite pay-TV offering in Central Europe. In this role, Mr. Shmotolokha oversaw sales and marketing, wholesale and retail distribution, and subscriber management operations.

Before Multichoice Central Europe, Mr. Shmotolokha was General Partner and Operations Officer of Simma International, a telecommunications and media consulting firm.
