Bellingham, Wash., November 14, 2003 - Alpha Technologies announces it has entered into an agreement with Tollgrade to provide Alpha with its next generation DOCSIS based status-monitoring transponders. This agreement also designates Alpha as the exclusive channel for Tollgrade DOCSIS transponders for monitoring Alpha power products.

On November 5, 2003 Alpha and Tollgrade signed an agreement stating both companies will collaborate in the design of next generation external and embedded DOCSIS transponders. These products enable the cable operator access to vital system information over the existing DOCSIS infrastructure. By implementing this type of technology, the operator can enjoy the reliability and robustness that is a hallmark of DOCSIS, now being widely applied to HFC element management activities throughout North America.

“Monitoring field power supplies has never been easier,” comments David Barany, Alpha’s Product Manager for Communications, adding “If DOCSIS is already in plant, all a Cable provider need do is install the transponder into the power node, no additional headend equipment is required. We are also receiving a great deal of interest from systems that have yet to deploy DOCSIS.”

Alpha and Tollgrade are broadening their offering of DOCSIS based management solutions, and see a bright future for this technology and now provides one point of contact for all status monitoring related products and services. Product will be available for shipment in early 2004.
