Bellingham, Wash., August 7, 2002 - Power system manufacturer Alpha Technologies, announces an upgraded BE-PWE battery expansion module for PWE pole mount enclosures and a Battery Side Module for UPE-M3 ground mount metered enclosures.



The BE-PWE enclosure has been designed to provide extended runtime for 36-volt pole mount power supply systems.

The BE-PWE is compatible with all of Alpha’s PWE three battery pole mount enclosures and is easily installed in the field. By upgrading the PWE-3 with the new battery expansion module, the amount of backup runtime doubles, without incurring the cost of purchasing a completely new enclosure system. The BE-PWE kit includes the enclosure, new door, rain guards and mounting hardware with rubber seals and grommets, drill template and wood or concrete pole mount bracket.

Battery Expansion module features include; integral solar shield to minimize internal ambient temperature rise and it is engineered to minimize battery thermal differentials optimizing battery life. Available options include battery cable kit, battery heater mat and tamper switch.

The BSM-3 battery side module is designed to provide a cost effective method of extending standby capacity to already installed UPE-M3 metered ground mount enclosures.

The BSM-3 provides an additional 36-volt battery string and has been engineered to minimize the temperature differential between batteries located within the UPE-M3 enclosure and batteries in the BSM-3 for optimum battery life. Features of the new battery side module include welded all-aluminum construction and powder coat finish for protection against corrosion. The BSM-3 can be mounted on either side of the UPE-M3 enclosure. The field installation kit includes the enclosure, door, battery cable kit, key set and all necessary mounting hardware and installation instructions. An optional cooling fan kit is required when using the battery side module.
