Bellingham, Wash., February 22, 2002 - Power supply manufacturer Alpha Technologies announces an enhanced line of PWE Series pole-mount enclosures for broadband applications. Alpha's new PWE Series has been designed to offer maximum protection for internal hardware, increase-operating life, and is easily accessible for maintenance.

The new PWE Series enclosures incorporate many advanced features previously found only on custom configured PWE enclosures. Passive Thermal Management has been improved by relocating all louvers from the sides of the PWE to the front door, directing cooler external ambient air onto the electronics. Centralized louver pattern also facilitates easier field installation and maintenance of storm hood kits. The Active Thermal Management option is designed to maximize airflow within the enclosure to maintain optimal operating temperatures. The enclosure lid now tilts up and is removable to allow for unobstructed access to the back of the enclosure during set-up and maintenance. The door is equipped with a positive cam, stainless steel latch with an integral spring mechanism ensuring a secure door closure in all conditions.

Additional benefits of the new PWE Series enclosures include; a slide cable access door for portable generator powering, aluminum prop rod for maintenance convenience in windy conditions, cable routing paths added to accommodate all typical wiring configurations, and heavy duty battery drawer slides inclusive of lock-in and lock-out functionality. Extra knockouts for the AC output indicator light and local remote indicator light have also been added to the outside of the PWE making it possible to optimize mounting locations for road side viewing. A ladder bracket option provides safe access for technicians to service power supplies and batteries. The storm hood option provides an additional deterrent to wind driven rain and snow ingress and can be ordered as a factory-installed option or as a kit for field installation. As with all Alpha outdoor enclosures, each PWE is made from durable aluminum. Each enclosure has a powder coat finish to provide protection from the elements and has been thermally engineered for optimal field performance. Options include battery heater mats and plastic covers for locks to keep out dust and eliminate corrosion. pleased to announce the addition of several new battery distributors nationwide. These distributors will aid Alpha in offering customers a complete Battery Service Program.

Alpha has enlisted the use of the following battery distributor companies to provide customers with convenient, reliable battery service across the country. They include Northeast Battery, Sure Power, Illinois Battery, Wholesale Battery, Battery USA, National Power, Powerscan, Battery Systems, Coast Energy and Sunbelt Battery. These distributors will provide multiple services for both Alpha and their customers, inclusive of delivering new AlphaCell batteries, removal of used batteries and providing proper recycling services.

Alpha offers customers initial batteries with purchase of new power systems, replacement batteries to ensure on-going network reliability, and comprehensive battery recycling services.
