ALPHA INTRODUCES MOBILE POWER SYSTEMS

Bellingham, Wash., August 16, 2001 - Power system manufacturer Alpha Technologies now offers backup power systems for mobile wireless networks. Alpha’s Novus XT Series provides critical power for “Cellsites On Wheels” (COW) and “Networks On Wheels” (NOW) wireless power applications.

Wireless carriers use COW and NOW solutions to provide temporary wireless services. Applications include temporarily out-of-service cell sites, limited coverage areas, expanding regions and overloaded territories. These mobile wireless networks can be easily transported to designated locations to address temporary service disturbances. Alpha's Novus XT outdoor UPS power systems can be used in conjunction with mobile networks to provide complete power protection to these critical systems.

Each Novus XT power system is comprised of three primary components: a durable, weather-resistant, outdoor enclosure; 1250VA or 2000VA power module; and long-life AlphaCell batteries. The Novus XT Series provides up to eight hours of critical AC backup power and necessary protection from surges and spikes during all modes of operation. This power system is fully compatible with external AlphaGen DC generator systems to provide up to 100 hours of backup runtime.

The UPS module as well as the input and output surge suppression modules, are hot-swappable to avoid interruption of the system during servicing. Hot swappable batteries are also used to ensure quick and easy battery replacement.
