ALPHA CONTINUES TO UPGRADE COMPANY-WIDE OPERATIONS SYSTEMS

Bellingham, Wash., October 1, 2001 - Power system manufacturer Alpha Technologies has completed the second phase of its SAP implementation process. This milestone is part of an overall effort to provide better service to customers and to streamline operations by upgrading the Company's internal operating system.

Alpha has been undergoing a complete revamping of their operating system in order to make the company more efficient and customer friendly. Benefits of the integration include improved inventory and delivery visibility and increased operational efficiencies.

Alpha began the SAP implementation process more than a year ago by instituting the system first at the corporate headquarters. Phase one included bringing the initial system online and designing which functionalities would most benefit the company.

Phase two focuses on bringing remote facilities on-line and integrating them with headquarter operations. Some of the capabilities added to the SAP operating system during this phase include customer and technical service, financial reporting and quality management.

Alpha chose to use the SAP operating system because it supports multi-plant facilities and operations. This ability allows company personnel to access all information concerning customer orders through one data source. The result is a customer is able to have immediate feedback on the status of their order from a single point of contact.
