In early 2009, Alpha introduced
DSM2 DOCSIS® status
monitoring to the AlphaNet™
family of network products
compatible with the Alpha XM2,
XM2HP, GMX and VMX Series
power supplies.
The DSM2 can be provisioned
using default cable modem
settings or customized to
individual needs. The embedded
Web and SNMP interfaces allow
MSO’s to monitor the status of
their power supplies, batteries and
generators and get notified quickly
and efficiently when power system
alarms are triggered, thereby
allowing for major cost savings
and reducing network downtime.
To increase the
effectiveness of
the system, Alpha
is working with
service operators
to customize
their monitored
information with
configurable
parameters to
take full advantage of the DSM2’s
network management capabilities.
