The recent upsurge in construction of Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTh) and Fiber-to-the-business (FTTb) access networks will likely represent one of the largest communications infrastructure upgrades in the last 20 years. In anticipation of this upgrade, Alpha Technologies has been working on rounding out a full complement of telecommunications grade, best in class fiber powering solutions.Alpha is poised to play an important role in the world of fiber optical networking as consumers demand more fiber in their high-tech diet.

FlexNet 48VDC for Small Office and Home Office (SOHO ), Small Business Units (SBU) and Multiple Dwelling Units (MDU)

The MPS50-48T supports critical communication loads in the network. These units are indoor or outdoor, wall or pole mounted microprocessor controlled UPS systems providing 50Watts of 48VDC. The input is powered from 120, 240 or 277VAC with optional step-down transformer. A 48VDC string of standard 7.2Ah maintenance free sealed lead acid batteries provide standby power. The onboard microprocessor monitors and controls critical functions including temperature compensated battery charge management, periodic battery capacity testing, and local and remote status reporting, providing higher service availability. A ruggedized outdoor enclosure protects against rain and lightning, and resists wind and vibration from storms or road traffic. This power supply is suited to both North America and International Markets in a single unit.

FlexNet 12VDC for Single-family optical network terminals (ONT ), located in or on the exterior of a home

The FlexPoint 1230 is a telecommunications grade optical network terminal power supply providing 30W of 12VDC primary and standby power for FTTX actives. Onboard microprocessor based firmware is engineered to achieve maximum battery life, system reliability and emergency battery reserve for greater E911 service availability. Unlike other standby power supplies that discharge the battery to the low voltage disconnect point, the FlexPoint 1230 reserves 40 percent battery power, enabling activation for emergency telephone calls in extended power outage situations. Standby power is provided by one 7.2Ah or optional 12Ah battery model. User interfaces include visual status indicators, audible alarm and 24 hour silence button and an auxiliary 12VDC power input port supporting longer standby runtimes.
