New Thermotron Testing Chamber in BellinghamAlpha Technologies has added another thermal testing chamber to its Bellingham location, expanding their testing capabilities to a total of eight thermal chambers. The new 35-cubic foot Thermotron Cascade Compressor Humidity chamber has a range of -70 to 180°C and 10-98% relative humidity. The state-of-the-art testing chamber allows for a greater volume of products to be qualified and requalified, as we engineer long-term power solutions for the most volatile conditions in the world.
Alpha Acquires Apsys
In January, Alpha Technologies GmbH in Germany announced the purchase of the power supply systems division of APSYS, the largest cable backup power supply manufacturer in France.
With the purchase of the APSYS brand, Alpha is committed to maintaining the Modular and Compact series of standby powering systems, as well as their line of nonstandby ferroresonant and linear products. In addition, Alpha will honor all outstanding warranties, providing service and offering installation support to existing and future APSYS brand customers.

Introducing the 22kVA 1600EP Series Headend UPS
Alpha Technologies has expanded its 1600EP series of AC Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) to include 22000EP, a single-phase headend UPS with 22000VA output capacity.Until now, this output capacity has been unachievable from a single unit, which makes the 22000EP all the more ideal for headend facility operators who need more than just compact AC power. The 22000EP protects sensitive loads up to 22kVA, is available in tower configuration and has a threeyear on site warranty. It is designed for headend, hub site and Optical Transition Node (OTN) applications. Features include hot swappable batteries, slide-out battery trays, external battery connector for extended runtimes, optional modular receptacle panel and internal SNMP/ web browser interface.
AlphaCell™ Battery Family Matures
Alpha Technologies has expanded its AlphaCell battery family to include the new premium gel 215 GOLD-HP and 190 GOLD-HP, featuring six year warranties and increased runtime solutions for outdoor broadband back-up applications. The AlphaCell™ gold label completes and defines the 2007 AlphaCell battery line, and sets a new standard in the battery market. The six-year non-prorated warranty is a big step up from the industry’s current standard. By utilizing a highperformance silver-alloy battery gel for protection against corrosion, the 215 GOLD-HP and 190 GOLD-HP provide runtimes of 215 and 190 minutes. Both batteries include maintenance-free threaded insert terminals for easier installation and replacement. The 2007 AlphaCell battery line also includes the blue label gel GXL, now with silver-alloy, new maintenance-free threaded insert terminals and a standard four or five-year warranty.
The Alpha Group Welcomes Alpha Research
Established late 2006, Alpha Research represents an R&D component for The Alpha Group with a specific mandate to identify opportunities and expand the Group’s intellectual property within the renewable energy sector. The primary areas of focus are photovoltaic (or solar power), wind generation, bio-fuels and fuel cells. In addition to renewable energy technologies, Alpha Research is working with existing Alpha Group technical teams in the development of advanced products and technologies to promote future sales growth.
