Bellingham, Wash. -- May 30, 2008 -- A national leader in turnkey photovoltaic systems and a member of The Alpha Group, Alpha Energy was proud to participate in the dedication of a new Solar Demonstration Project located at the Viking Union at Western Washington University (WWU) on May 21, 2008.

The Alpha-designed system, including an interactive educational kiosk inside the Viking Union, will generate between 1,900 and 2,300 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, depending on the amount of sunlight. The energy generated by the solar system will be fed directly into the grid and will help offset WWU’s electricity costs. To assist in the launch of this site, Alpha Energy supplied 12 solar modules, a solar power inverter and site survey evaluation of the site’s solar power potential.

The project was initiated by Renewable Energy students at WWU and was supported and maintained by the WWU’s Administration and Facilities Management. Both the Bonneville Environmental Foundation and Puget Sound Energy provided financial support.
