Alpha Energy Commissions the First Commercial Solar Installation in the City of Avondale

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Phoenix, Ariz., February 17, 2010 - Located at 1628 West Williams Drive, Alpha Energy, a member of worldwide Total Power Solutions provider The Alpha Group, recently completed the construction and commissioning of a 75kW Elevated Solar PV Grid-Tied structure for Cox Communications in Avondale, AZ.

“We are proud to play a role in the expansion of the solar footprint in Arizona, and this first commercial solar installation in Avondale presented a great opportunity to serve as an example for commercial solar power done right,” said Drew Zogby, President and COO of Alpha Technologies. “More than anything, the Avondale installation is a continuation of our partnership with Cox Communications in an effort to “green” Arizona. This installation is one of a half a dozen to follow in the region as part of that collaboration, including systems in Tucson, Scottsdale and Union Hills.”

Comprised of two systems, the 75 Kilowatt Cox Avondale installation required 276 photovoltaic panels. Combined, the systems will generate more than 115,000 kilowatt hours per year, enough to power 11 homes and prevent the emissions of more than 142,000 lbs of CO2. Cox will use the energy generated from the system to power their Avondale operations, with excess power being fed back onto the utility grid for distribution throughout the region.

“Continuing the commitment of our founder Governor Cox, who was committed to conservation practices, Cox Communications was pleased to partner with Alpha Technologies to carry that commitment to a new generation through the installation of solar power systems in our facilities across the state,” said Ivan Johnson, Vice President of Community Relations at Cox Communications Arizona.

“For a city organization that has been diligent about incorporating green concepts at our public facilities, it is extremely encouraging when our local businesses share that same philosophy of environmental stewardship,” said Pier Simeri, Community Relations & Public Affairs Director for the City of Avondale.
