ALPHA INTRODUCES NEW VERSION OF CONTINUITY STATUS MONITORING SOFTWARE

Bellingham, Wash. March 21, 2008 - World leading power systems provider Alpha Technologies Inc. recently introduced version 3.3 of its Continuity Status Monitoring software by Seldon Systems. Already a powerful tool in monitoring cable outside plant networks, this version update includes several features such as a graphic mapping system, automatic notification options, advanced event history and a customizable user interface.

“For almost three years, cable operators in North America have utilized this centralized web-enabled tool to reduce power outages and maintenance calls,” said Rob Anderson, Director of Emerging Markets for Alpha. “And with the new version, we make this faster and easier through the newly developed visual interface.”

The new mapping feature provides a holistic view of the network-powering infrastructure. Using GPS coordinates, power supply location and status are overlayed on geographic maps. Power supplies are represented by color-coded icons on a map indicating their current status: green indicates normal operation, yellow indicates a power supply operating in standby mode or red indicates an alert necessitating immediate action.

“During wide spread power outages, power supplies in different areas may be simultaneously affected,” said Anderson. “System operators can use the mapping feature to quickly identify areas requiring site visits and to prioritize resources. With this and the additional features of the version 3.3 release, Alpha continues its efforts to provide the most efficient status monitoring solution to the broadband power market.”

These additional features include advanced battery management, history and event reporting, customizable user interface, alarm forwarding for integration into other Network Management Systems and online user manual.

Based on HMS and DOCSIS standards, Continuity is a flexible, affordable status monitoring solution that supports any standards-based transponder. It offers additional features when used with the Alpha DSM, a DOCSIS Status Module embedded in the XM2, GMX and VMX standby power supplies.

Alpha’s innovation in cable power systems will be on display at this year’s SCTE Cable-Tec Expo in Philadelphia PV, June 25-27 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
